“Incredible event, life-changing experience to become connected with young Nikkei. Thank you for putting this on, it does so much for us as individuals and a group.”

Support initiatives organized by young Japanese Canadians in your community!

Your generous donation will help us foster community spaces, and connect and learn from other Japanese Canadians including our elders. This year, we’re raising $10,000. Here is how your contributions can help our community thrive:

  • $20-50
    • Registration fee for a participant at a future event
    • Meal for one participant at a larger event
    • Supplies and materials
  • $100-150
    • Travel cost for a volunteer driver, presenter or performer
    • A/V equipment rental
  • $150-250
    • Venue rental for a small event
    • Honoraria for a speaker, performer or instructor for a workshop
  • $350-500
    • Honoraria for professional services (i.e. counselling, photographer) at a larger event
    • Venue rental for a larger event
  • $1,000+
    • Partial coverage for a chartered bus for an event outside of Vancouver (i.e. to Tashme)

Since 2014, Kikiai Collaborative has brought together Japanese Canadians and Nikkei from across Greater Vancouver, Canada and the United States. As we grow, we’re organizing larger initiatives, such as our ensoku series. This year, we aim to foster intimate learning, connection and dialogue in our new mini enosku series, chibisoku.

Please note, Kikiai Collaborative is not a registered organization and cannot provide tax receipts at this time.

“I felt like it was okay to be who I was and what family history I carried with me to feel included . . . I didn’t really question whether I was taking up someone else’s space. I think I felt like I could give myself permission, just, to be.”
