Announcing ensoku 2023: a day trip to Tashme

Our second ensoku (“field trip”) event has officially launched!

Registration is now closed.

Join us on Sunday, June 25, 2023 for a gathering of young-ish Japanese Canadians* to Tashme, the largest internment site in B.C.

This one-day event will start in Vancouver on a chartered bus, guiding folks to Tashme in what is now called Sunshine Valley. Folks will have the opportunity to visit the Sunshine Valley Tashme Museum, tour the former internment site, do fun activities, get to know other young Japanese Canadian people, and of course, eat!

Sliding scale (suggested $30) to participate and nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. Event includes:

  • Return trip from Vancouver to Tashme (2+ hours each way)
  • Food for the day (bus snacks, lunch, beverages etc.)
  • Guided walking tour of Tashme
  • Access to the Sunshine Valley Tashme Museum
  • Facilitated activities
  • Opportunity to connect with other folks

For questions, email kikiaicollaborative [at] gmail [dot] com. Registration and more details TBA.

*Inclusive of anyone of Japanese ancestry; suggested for folks up to 40 years old
